bold;">2 Represents Duality. Alteration; diversity; conflict; dependence. Two is a static condition. It is rooted, seen as balance (two sides); stability; reflection. Two are the opposite poles. Represents the dual nature of the human being. It is desire, since all that is manifest in duality is in pairs of opposites. As One represents a point, two represents a length. The Binary is the first number to recede from Unity, it also symbolizes sin which deviates from the first good and denotes the transitory and the corruptible. Two represents two-fold strength--that is symbolized by two of anything, usually in history, by animals in pairs.

Search ‘duality’ on the World Wide Web and you receive 1,870,000 responses in .04 seconds! This in itself represents a connected-ness, an ever growing expotential number of dualities that exist on an immense scale.
I had originally called this article the ‘The Two Opposing Forces’. It then evolved into ‘The Theory of The Two Opposing Forces of Attraction’. That was how I had originally viewed the relationships of apparent opposites. Then as I continued to do my research and study I realized that what I was attempting to understand intuitively was the much discussed ‘duality’. But in essence that is what duality implies, a polarization and attraction happening simultaneously. Two distinct energetic forces, dancing, buoyed, balanced by each other.
The duality of the polarities North and South, positive and negative, the electromagnetic energies, this energy is always in flux creating a 3D reality.
The ultimate expression of duality in a microcosm is matter and antimatter. Existing in arenas of continuous creation and annihilation, these dynamic duos represent perhaps the very first duality that existed after the big bang. I will discuss this most important ‘duality’ in a future article, The Trinity and Einstein Unified.
The male/female duality would probably be the most common example used in metaphor, art, allegory, essentially all expression. As an example anyone who has been deeply involved in a relationship comes to the conclusion that they can neither live with nor without their spouse, partner or soul mate.
I also believe the ‘human being’ is an expression of a duality. Each of us struggles personnally with each aspect of our dualities. The human that is comprised of matter existing in a material world subject to the boundaries of flesh and the being which is drawn to the spirit, boundaries unknown.
‘Not only are we human beings having spiritual experiences but we are also spiritual beings having human experiences’.
Yin and Yang evolved from a belief of mutually dependant opposites that cannot live without the other.
The duality of religion and science, twins borne in the mind of man also exists.
Most Common examples of duality
Please note each has an opposite yet they should not be viewed as good or bad, just opposites that exist so life can evolve…
Love, good, positive, cause, alpha, light-giving, expanding, strong, Guardian Angels, Vishnu, Yang, heaven, fire, peace, serenity, kinetic energy, sustainability, available energy, life, matter, omkara
vs.
Fear, evil, negative, effect, omega, dark, contracting, weak, Lucifer or Satan, Shiva, Yin, hell, water, confusion, turmoil, potential energy, consumerism, unavailable energy, death, anti-matter, svastika
Please note: Duality is the astrological term meaning that six signs are considered
to be masculine and six are feminine. It does not mean that masculine
signs are powerful or that feminine signs are weak. It means a feminine
signs is receptive, magnetic and self-contained and a masculine sign is
more direct, energetic, and outer-directed.
Yin Yang
One of the best examples and most recognizable symbols of duality are the YIN and YANG. Ancient Chinese scholars believed there to be two complimentary and contradictory forces in the Universe. The yin yang symbol embodies the duality of the Universe. YIN represents the femaleness, destruction, negative, darkness, the moon, material forms, softness, moisture, nighttime, even numbers and docile aspects of things. YANG represents the maleness, creation, positive, brightness, the sun, Heaven, hardness, dryness, daytime. Odd numbers and dominant aspects. Each of these opposites is responsible for producing the other. The Yin Yang symbol represents the idealized balance of the forces, equilibrium in the universe.
The yin and yang forces are believed to be cyclical, moving and evolving into each other.
However even though a duality exists in yin yang the essentials of the yin-yang philosophy dictate that the universe is run by a single principal, the Tao, or Great Ultimate. This principle is then divided into the two opposite principles, which oppose one another in their actions, yin and yang. The philosophy further states all opposites one perceives in the universe can be reduced to one of the two opposing forces. This is also an obvious precursor to the Christian introduction of the Trinity. Which also will be discussed in a future article.
The Yin and Yang symbol is the product of ancient astrological observation. Click on link to see how this symbol was created through the measurement of light emanating from the 'Sun of God'.

The dualities of the yin yang represents the amount of light that is falling to the earth essentially available to us as an ‘energy’ resource. It represents light and darkness which give rise to creation and destruction. This fact should not be ignored but used for our benefit. What the solstices give us is further proof, connecting man, his existence, acknowledging his survival is linked to a cyclical Mother Nature and we learn that we are not independent, apart, separate but dependent upon our environment. It can also be observed and thus stated that the Earth’s well-being, her health is also dependent upon man and his utilization of his dominion.
The Vernel and Autumnal Equinoxes being opposite representations of time also represent another duality. Twice a year, day and night become equal in length.
Duality is a most common theme appearing continuously throughout all religions, beliefs, and myths and science. Appearing throughout scripture, folklore and story telling. However not only is the same metaphorical battle the undercurrent of all these stories and scripture but it also manifests itself energetically in science as laws of physics.
Matter and Anti-matter is an obvious pair, a duality.
Another not so obvious pair is Entropy and it’s opposite Conservation.
ENTROPY
Physicists theorize that the universal BIG BANG was the result of an immense density of mass incredibly concentrated beyond belief, a singularity of unity that essentially came apart with a tremendous release of energy resulting in two distinct entities matter and anti-matter. There was a third entity formed as a result of the matter and anti-matter duality reaction. In this battle of apparent ‘opposites’, our universe and everything material was borne of matter.
The BIG BANG was the birth of duality and it’s offspring, our Universe. If this is the nature of our creation, our beginning, is it not possible that the energetic forces present at the time of creation, still play a part in the development or evolution of the universe? The two opposing forces represent the forces of creation that resides, permeates all of matter and energy here in this material 3rd dimension and throughout the entire universe.
So one of the two forces of duality here in the third dimension is a tendency that exists where the total energy is always progressing toward maximum entropy and the force in opposition is the ability to minimize entropy by minimizing the energy flow within the closed system. This I suggest can be done with the participation of mankind…this I view simply as conscious free will, choices given to us as stewards
Essentially mankind by fully understanding, acknowledging and respecting the first law of conservation can use it to oppose the second law of penalty!
"Through the dynamics of yin and yang, the female and male cosmic principles, the Tao creates all phenomena. Whereas the Tao is perfectly harmonious, the cosmos is in a state of constant disequilibrium.
-Spirituality By The Numbers, Georg Feuerstein, p. 14.
This statement implies equilibrium may never be attained, however harmony can still exist…a thought to consider also.
These two opposing forces appear throughout the entire macro and micro Universe. Entropy has even been detected in the ‘event horizon’, which is associated with Black Holes.
Interestingly entropy is difficult to detect with quantum theory. The reason for this will be discussed later using the axiom ‘Time’s Arrow’.
There is a lesser known 3rd law of thermodynamics that explains why it is so hard to cool something to absolute zero (-273.15).
The 3rd Law states that all processes cease as temperature approaches absolute 0. As temperature goes to absolute 0, the entropy of a system approaches a constant.
This law gave birth to an idea, a flirtation with reality known as cryonic
suspension. Freezing life to be revived in the future once the technology is developed to affect the thaw. It is a perfect metaphor for how crazy life has become. We are willing to spend vast quantities of energy to investigate the possibility that we may be able to suspend ‘time’. The profound irony lies in the fact that the technology needed to effect such a change may never be achieved because there are other technologies concurrently seeking to destroy mankind. The ‘rise of the machines’ is upon us. The conclusion one arrives at is that there may never be a future due to the fact that we pursue so many flirtations of intellect that really serve no purpose in aiding the longevity and sustainability of our civilizations and our host planet.
What if we look at all ‘laws of energy’, the current laws of physics, does there exist in each law a duality?
E = mc2
Energy is equal to matter. On a sub-atomic level there is battle of annihilation and creation manifesting itself apparently out of nothing. Any thinking curious person would observe and ask…does duality permeate everything in the Universe.
First Law of Thermodynamics
Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only be transformed from one form to another. The total energy is constant within any closed system.
Second Law of Thermodynamics
Both laws can be stated as the natural processes of hot moving toward cold or high concentrations dispersing and becoming more random always takes place in such a direction as to cause an increase in the entropy (randomness) of the universe.
The first and second laws comprise a duality. Consumption vs. Conservation. All chemical reactions, indeed just about all of the living world, are governed by two basic laws of energy or thermodynamics.
Newton's First Law of Motion
A body (mass) in a state of rest tends to remain at rest, and a body in motion tends to continue to move at constant speed in a straight line unless acted upon by some external force.
Kinetic energy and Potential energy comprise a duality.
Newton's Second Law of Motion
An unbalanced force on a body tends to produce an acceleration in the direction of the force, and that the acceleration is directly proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass of the body.
Newton's Third Law of Motion
For every acting force, there is an equal and opposite reacting force.
Newton’s 2nd and 3rd Laws essentially implies the same thing and states there is a force and an equal reacting force, opposites or another expressed duality.
Quantum Theory … text to follow
In conclusion The Unified Field Theory is an attempt to unite the duality of Relativity and Quantum Theory. String Theory may prove to hold the key to this final Theory of Everything. It is in this realm of theoritical physics that science and religion shall be reconciled.
